Barclays Center The Highlights
Major-league sports at the corner of Atlantic and Flatbush Avenues in the heart of Brooklyn, have been a long time coming—since the 1950s, in fact—but the Barclays Center is now a reality. Home to the Brooklyn Nets and the New York Islanders, the arena also features the more intimate 7,700-seat Tidal theater, the Shops at Barclays Center (including the Nets Lifestyle Shop by Adidas), and more than 50 local food vendors. In addition to the Nets and Islanders, the Barclays Center hosts college and prep basketball, boxing, circuses, family shows, and concerts.
The Barclays Center is setting a new standard as the showcase venue for the world’s most thrilling entertainment and sports events and since its opening on September 28, 2012 with the first of eight consecutive sold-out shows by JAY Z, the Barclays Center has continued to host the world’s most renowned performers, including Barbra Streisand, The Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, Beyoncé, Rihanna, Madonna and Bruce Springsteen. The success of these events has made Barclays Center one of the most popular arenas in the world, ranked top five globally in 2015 for gross revenue and attendance by Billboard and Venues Today. The Barclays Center boasts one of the most intimate seating configurations ever designed for a modern multi-purpose arena offering 17,732 seats for basketball, 15,795 for hockey, and up to 19,000 seats for concerts. Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment, who manages and controls The Barclays Center will also oversee the renovation of the historic Brooklyn Paramount Theatre.
